Meet Dr. Webb
Dr. Carmen Thurston Webb is licensed in the state of Texas, and Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She served for eight years on the faculty of the Medical College of Pennsylvania Hahnemann School of Medicine and has been in private practice since 1999.
Through her clinical experiences, Dr. Webb has developed an expertise in working with patients from various cultural and religious backgrounds. She continues to focus her clinical work across diverse cultures and faiths. Dr. Webb has extensive education and experience in the diagnosis and treatment of hundreds of patients with Mood Disorders (Major Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Dysthymic Disorder) and Anxiety Disorders.
Dr. Webb affirms that both psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy (medication) can be beneficial--she offers both. The best way to manage many problems is to talk through them with a skilled listener. She offers psychotherapy (supportive, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, etc.) as a fundamental part of the treatment approach.
Dr. Webb, integrating her research and clinical experience, has become well versed in the challenges and needs of treating many specific populations, particularly Health Care Professionals, and Clergy. She has facilitated numerous support groups as well as individual treatments for these populations over the past 25 years.
Dr. Webb earned a B.S. at Yale University and an M.D. from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Dr. Webb completed her Residency Training at Hahnemann University Hospital (now Drexel University Hospital) in Philadelphia, PA. She has authored many papers and is the Editor of Taking My Place in Medicine: A Guide for Minority Medical Students.
